travel north america united states nevada highways nevada route 375 - the extraterrestrial highway
Nevada Route 375 crosses east-west across approximately five dessert basins of the state, is closely associated with Area 51, and is known as the Extraterrestrial Highway.
We travel this route almost every year on our way to St. George, Utah, and the Huntsman World Senior Games.
I have grown to love the beautiful open expanses of the dessert and an arrow-straight roadways to the horizon with no visable traffic for fifteen to twenty minutes.
The roadway is mostly well paved and speeds often exceed what I have experienced on Germany's famed autobahn.
Most of the area is open range with hearty cattle roaming what appear to be almost foodless miles of dessert.
On the east where the highway merges with Route 318, you'll find a tourist stop at the Alien Research Center, Area 51.
Nellis Air Force Range borders on the south.
